The association of small producers of organic banana tree of Saman and Anexos (APPBOSA) was founded on February of 2003 with 108 partners. At the moment it has 285 partners and an area of 335.25 hectares with great possibilities of growth.
In 2005 it went out of the central which it belonged (CEPIBO) with other associations that did not share the anxieties of power of some leaders and founded REPEBAN. This central groups at the moment 8 associations and represents 65% of the exported organic banana tree in Peru.
APPBOSA, destinied from its beginnings great part of its resources to enable its partners and to be developed with the dream of managing exportation without intermediation of exporting companies. Although this was an utopia, now it´s closer: APPBOSA gives technical attendance to their partners, has their own organic certificate with Control Union (Skall) and it has also obtained the Eurepgap certification.
The 1st of December of 2006 APPBOSA broke with history when becoming first and until now only association of the country that profit to make the process of harvest and packing. At the moment it processes 12 weekly containers of 1080 boxes of the Yourchoice mark for the Dole multinational. After to have sold more than 150,000 boxes, a box in the international markets has still not been given back to us nor, reason for which other exporting companies want to buy our product. The banana tree of Saman is recognized by its excellent flavor and maturation. The quality of all our processes (to see video) guarantees a good product to us and to continue in the same line we are going to be first in installing the cable system via which it reduces I number of blows in the process. We have fulfilled all the requirements established by FLO and for that reason the best association bananera of the country has considered us. Nevertheless, we have still not fulfilled our dream: To export directly with our own mark. We thought that the right commerce gives the facilities us necessary to be able to obtain it and for it we want to have commercial partners abroad that they create in a stable and lasting relation. |
